More than a decade ago I met Sister Amoris in Alba, Italy where I was performing in a music festival. I was staying in a monastery and the local monks introduced us since we were both Korean; we became close friends. Her primary responsibility was to visit terminally ill patients in local hospitals and help them through their final days. Most of these patients were old and many of them had no family to be help them. Sister Amoris brought “love and light” to her patients—she was full of the Holy Spirit and radiated a deep love to the weak and the forgotten.
Amoris means “love” in Latin and I decided, along with my husband, that someday we would start a non-profit organization in Sister Amoris’s name and the mission of this organization would be to serve the forgotten with love and music.
Here is a picture of Sister Amoris and myself—-imagine, finding a Korean nun in Alba, Italy.
